In-house First Aid Training for teachers and staff at schools and colleges

CTQ L3 Award in First Aid for Schools

CTQ Level 3 Award in First Aid for Schools

A one-day course designed for staff who work with children and young people in schools. It covers both child and adult first aid, so it meets your statutory requirements in a single course.

Why schools need both
Schools are responsible for the welfare of both pupils and staff, so you need first aiders trained in both paediatric and adult first aid. Since September 2021, Resuscitation Council UK guidance says paediatric protocols should be used for anyone from infancy up to 18 years old.

This course meets:

  • DfE requirements for pupils
  • HSE requirements for staff and visitors
  • Ofsted Early Years criteria (excluding infants)

How it’s delivered

  • 6 hours of face-to-face practical training covering child and adult first aid
  • Early years or school nursery staff: complete an extra 6 hours of eLearning at home to upgrade to Full Paediatric First Aid. That gives the 12 hours Ofsted requires.

Certification
Everyone receives a First Aid for Schools certificate. It meets HSE guidance for Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) and covers the EYFS paediatric content, excluding infant protocols.

Please note: depending on your risk assessment, you may also need someone on site with a 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) qualification.

We also offer

  • First Aid at Work (FAW)
  • Online first aid for lunch cover and TAs
  • First aid courses for pupils
  • First aid assembly talks
